‘C creates an avatar in line with their style and preferences. The avatar created by C roams around the space beyond the luminous screen, their actions dictated by a single finger at C’s command. While the avatar stays active, consuming heart-shaped energy, C remains comfortably seated, their bottom slowly going to sleep as time runs away. After being propelled forward, the avatar is eventually reset to the same place regardless of its direction of movement; in the real world, the clock adjacent to C continues without interruption.’

The virtual spaces are all unified by one network. However just as a continent is divided into countries, the network operates through several servers. As a result, users existing in the physical space must transform into various shapes suitable for a virtual environment. Their bodies differ in numerous ways - from their size, to the different elements they have incorporated to provide greater strength. Avatars in different backgrounds require different means of adaptation.

Exhibition Title : <Magic touch> was born when I asked myself the following question: “Am I identical to those who work in the virtual world, yet operate in the physical world?”  When I enter the immaterial world, I try to maintain and transform myself simultaneously. While the immaterial body’s movements are controlled in different spaces and timelines, at the same time, I constantly try to be linked to my avatar. However, because the immaterial body differs from my own, it constantly behaves differently to my predictions. During this process, the subtle collisions between different versions of myself imitate vertigo in various senses, further to the visual motion sickness. The phenomenon juxtaposes motion sickness in real life ; This phenomenon inverts the experience of motion sickness in real life, where stability is the only relief from vertigo. Meanwhile, vertigo in immaterial space occurs when the physical body is stationary and out of sync with the virtual realm. This elucidates not only the similarities between the two worlds, but also their substantial contrasts. At this crucial juncture that my work asks the question: How do we experience the body moving between the immaterial and material worlds?

<Wind-up Glasses> and <upup left down and right> are works expressing the first hand-experience of vertigo. Both works are comprised of objects that aim to maintain equilibrium, alongside elements that are constantly faltering in their equilibrium. <Wind-up Glasses>, has four springs that move over 60 seconds. As the minute ticks by , each spring leaps forward toward the next . Conversely, the fluid in the hoses, which are in the form of glasses, shake and move in the direction of the springs , yet stay in place. The audience stand to face the installation of springs trying to move and liquid trying to steady itself in a constant battle for balance that cannot be won. This installation shows both equilibrium and oblique angles simultaneously and mimics the experience of disorientation in the virtual space.

<gogo and reset> is a work which asks questions about the existence of the body in virtual space, placed on a timeline that flows differently from the physical world. During the exhibition, a touch-activated racing game will automatically run indefinitely with the real-time timer in the upper left corner in the screen. However, unlike times that are counted indefinitely, avatars that seem to be accessing the server and playing in real time cannot escape the starting point due to errors in the map. Therefore, this avatar, without a player, now only exists as a loop video. The stronger the immersion in the virtual world, the more the body of the physical world is absorbed by the avatar. However, when the player is absent, the avatar remains at a standstill, losing virtually all of its physical functions. This real-time gameplay intentionally reveals a crippled avatar-it is visible and seems functional , but doesn't work- that is perpetually resetting due to the absence of a player's physical touch.

<untitled-nonexistence 無在> is a process of 3D scanning a body existing in the tangible world, copying it into a virtual body as just a skin, reprinting it, and using it to create a gelatin model using a mold. Several gelatin figures that fall on the floor melt or move due to the environment during the exhibition, transforming themselves. My body, the scanned skin, and gelatinized figures all have the same shapes, but the skins that have been transferred to the digital world seem to exist in an immutable form. The virtually-realised figures on the floor ask us if they can exist as a real body in a real space or are they just pure-facsimile- data.
